LONDON FASHION WEEK A/W2010-11 – BRYCE D’ANICE AMIE
Fusing Parisian glamour with a dark, deviant restriction, Bruue d'Anice Amie reconciled Egyptian influences with a firmly contemporary sensibility. A crescendo of building drums, pierced occasionally by electronica soundtracked a foray into polished mummification. High necked sheath dresses, cut shorter at the front before curving into a longer length at the back came worn over digitally printed bandage body suits enveloping legs, arms and even shoes in a flurry of fuchsia, burgundy and black.
Stiff fabrication in the aforementioned dresses and cropped jackets fed into panelling and peplum waists, emphasising the encased female forms. Protruding darts, laced grossgrain, tightly wrapped headbands and a looping skirt informed the Cleopatran aesthetic, whereas finale dressed and bodies - structured, angular and all encasing broached a new form of mummification. For those favouring a more relaxed take, loose fitting shifts trimmed at the neck in copper and sheer fisherman neck shirts replete with delicate gold buttons hinted at Egypt, minus the constriction.
