LONDON FASHION WEEK S/S2011 – EUDON CHOI 

Endowed with the title 'Industrial Revolution', the third collection of Vauxhall Fashion Scout Merit Award Winner Eudon Choi addressed the treatise on workwear burgeoning across the menswear runways. Inspired by the cotton industry and the autonomous, democratic appeal of manual labour, the darker military hues of Autumn/Winter were displaced in favour of a clean, feminine palette.

Opening to a mechanical soundtrack peppered with birdsong, an one shouldered asymmetric dress in beige, sheer panel exposing the breast, lead into a boxy two tone jacket in the same tone, elbow patches indulging an alternative, closer-to-camel hue, cotton fabrication instantly capturing and broadcasting a hands-on tale. Moving into silk shirting and full, wide trousers, epaulettes, storm flaps, flap pockets and brass, rivets and screw-head poppers too imbued the purposeful with poise; a two-tone wrap-around skirt moving the functional firmly into fashion territory.

Moving through blush pink and porcelain blue, tones of charcoal and dove gray, a wrapped collar-less jacket, sculpted into a subtle, leg of mutton sleeve recalled medicinal scrubs when finished with a singular pocket at chest and three dimensional placket. Jersey panelled dresses cut tight on the body and worn beneath crumpled cotton trenches, silk t-shirt dresses finished with multiple pockets and sheer panelling, twisted dresses as though caught in machinery, utilitarian waistcoats and a stand-out jacket - collarless, panelled in nude, khaki and blue, chiffon, cotton and leather and finished with D-ring straps and a dropped, diagonal hem - characterised Eudon's feminine take on the perennially masculine.
