LONDON FASHION WEEK S/S2011 – J.JS LEE

Indicative of the crisp, minimalist Calvin Klein come Helmut Lang aesthetic pervading New York, and after obtaining a taster with the piece used in our LFW Preview issue, a glance at J.JS Lee's full Spring/Summer collection confirmed the existence of modernist, palette cleansing design on this side of the Atlantic. In her first season post Central Saint Martin's MA, Jackie's unwavering pursuit of the "minimal and tailored" announced itself in shirting, slimline trousers and tailoring. In a palette of stark black and white, flashes of fresh, dense green and a muted near lilac offered feminine relief  whilst nuanced details - a flat, static lapel, illusory fake collars and plackets, a classic collar highlighted via a dropped neckline, and striking, boxy cut-outs on sleeveless blazers - attained an enlightening parity.
