Paris Fashion Week S/S2010 - Giles

PARIS FASHION WEEK S/S2010 – GILES

A month of catwalks, of launches, of presentations, of parties has drawn to a close, concluding with Giles Deacon's first showing in Paris. So how did the London hot ticket deal with a demotion to a graveyard slot in Paris? Not bad at all it seems, producing a simple, sleek, saleable collection that still rang with that Giles Deacon brand of playfulness.

Prom and shift dresses with a hint of the sixties, and in vivid corals, dirty yellows, nudes, blacks and gleaming metallics, adorned with delicate ruffles and Giles's signature skirts forged a peppy youthfulness, whereas perfect separates - pencil skirts, a slouchy sequin embellished track jacket, metallic silver suit with shrunken blazer, look certain to infiltrate many a wardrobe.

Graphic tarantula t-shirts, teddy-bear style dinosaur bags and cartoony sunglasses injected genuine humour, and furthermore pieces at a more attainable price point, suggesting that with one eye on the market, and another firmly on his own aesthetic, Giles might leave the graveyard behind next season.
