London Fashion Week S/S2010 - Fashion East - Holly Fulton

LONDON FASHION WEEK S/S2010 - FASHION EAST

Having heard delirious reports of last season's Fashion East show, I approached the vaults at Somerset House enveloped in the swell of anticipation. Lead to a balcony overlooking the vaults themselves, the outdoor location, and antiquated setting lent a sense of occasion and an air of freshness rather than stifling heat, concurrently contrasted and echoed in the innovative talent presented.

HOLLY FULTON

First down the natural catwalk was Holly Fulton's collection. A more wearable interpretation of the aesthetic that she showed in her graduation and last season's shows - also at Fashion East - Holly's signature Art Deco influenced prints - black on cream, adorned lightweight simple shift dresses, and separates. A demon hand at evening wear, Holly used this collection to turn her talents to daytime. Billowing blouses paired with jeans and leggings in lightweight chiffon, all bearing Holly's almost metallic prints in luxurious black, gold and red look set to bring the Holly Fulton look to a wider audience. This did not negate Holly's evening wear. Utilising her sponsorship with Swarovski, dresses were thickly embellished with square palettes and crystals, trimming arms, necks and shoulders, her fascination with Art Deco transferring to playful mosaic-ed Skyscrapers on dresses and breasts on a standout boxy, grey PVC jacket.
