LONDON FASHION WEEK S/S2010 - FASHION EAST - HEIKKI SALONEN

In complete contrast to Holly Fulton's luxurious embellishment sat Heikki Salonen's pared down, simple collection. Buttoned up sheer shirts were teamed with skin tight jeans cut-off just above the knee, whereas waxed denim jackets and brown Doctor Martens added further to the tough androgyny of the collection.

Feminine touches such as an extended slit on the back of an almost flyaway sleeveless white blazer, silver bead embellishment on the shoulders of a long waistcoat, and an abundance of crop tops utilised skin as another panel of fabric, adding a literal femininity. The finale dress, collared, but sleeveless, cinched in at the waist with a weighty zip at the back, in a padded cream texture, summed up a simple and - despite its masculine edge - delicate collection.
