LONDON FASHION WEEK S/S2010 - JEREMY SCOTT
Opening with Total Coelo's 'I Eat Cannibals', Jeremy Scott's show shunned high-brow intellectualism, and instead presented a blatant homage to the Flintstones. Shift dresses in fractured fluro orange and green leopard and tiger prints were jagged edged and fastened with plastic bones which also snuck into backcombed, unruly hair as accessories.
Filtered through the eighties by way of tiered ra-ra style skirts, printed prom dresses, sweetheart necklines, and boxy cropped denim jackets with matching high-waisted hot pants, the finale pieces - a fur gillet and dress in the signature hues and prints of the collection - epitomised a collection that resounded with joyful exuberance.
For the boys and modelled by IT boys Cole and Ash, came an updated tail coat - in pink leather with bone print, and in black - short and boxy at the front before extending into tails at the back. For the braver fans of Scott, came the briefest of swimming trunks in the same pink print, and a one shouldered maillot. A collection gobbled up by his ever devoted fans, the lighthearted, escapist tone was the perfect start to Day Five.
