London Fashion Week S/S2010 - Pringle of Scotland

LONDON FASHION WEEK S/S2010 - PRINGLE OF SCOTLAND

My fourth day at London Fashion Week concluded with Pringle and a swift journey to the Saatchi Gallery. Waiting in line, the teams of Elle and Vogue slipped by, and finally Tilda Swinton made an expectedly majestic entrance. Preceeding the show was a film shot by Ryan McGinley - featuring Tilda - in which she roamed a natural landscape, scaling battered stone walls, squeezing lithely through gaps in masonry and finally uniting with nature as she strolled into a lolling tide.

Cable knit cardigans in cream - given a fresh lease of life when teamed with a sheer underlay and cut longer at the back - and glittering copper t-shirts and hot pants in lightweight fabrics, imbued the collection with a similary delicate earthiness. Sporty racer back dresses in crochet knits cut loose though on the body, and cropped jackets with cut-out backs, gave the collection a youthful ease and a neutral colour palette of cream, white, dove grey and charcoal, interjected with the occasional shot of acidic yellow, lime green or a pink-tinged copper ensured a Spring/Summer freshness.

Standout pieces including a crocodile skin leather coat with asymmetric collar and floor length evening dresses in sinuous silks and adorned with subtle ruffles, tussled with Pringle's trademark knits for supremacy, an illustration - if ever there was one - of success.
