London Fashion Week S/S2010 - On|Off Presents...

LONDON FASHION WEEK S/S2010 - ON|OFF PRESENTS...

Away from the main schedule at London Fashion Week, On|Off Presents... showcased an array of burgeoning talent that compounds London Fashion Week's status as the go-to destination for fashion visionaries of the future.

The Prose Studio duo forecasted a concurrently ethereal yet hardy summer with their painterly collection. Spiralling prints in blues, and stark black and white recalled but revitalised the cosmos print that has abounded since Peter Pilotto's notable collection. Jumpsuits and Harem Pants rendered in weightless chiffons and silks were elevated by fluid draping and grounded by weighty showpiece jewllery and tough deconstructed leather pieces. Delicate yet robust, The Prose Studio presented a collection tailor made for the irrational British summe.

Like The Prose Studio, Michaela Carraro embraced the twilight of summer as she sent a barrage of dusky pastel tones in silks and chiffons down the catwalk. Michela's previous play with draping developed into ornate ombre blouses, tucked into floral print trousers and accented with shots of brilliant red and orange, bringing to memory the rising summer sun. Couple this with Michaela's shoes - weighty platforms juxtaposed by lashings of delicate ribbon - and Michaela's collection will surely leave the ladies of the audience longing for the summer months.

A shift in tone, both sonically and aesthetically singalled the beginning of Joanna Vanderpuije's show. Previously invited by Diane Von Furstenburg to create prints for her eponymous label, Joanna teamed her graphic, hand-drawn prints with impeccably slick separates. Though utilising similar nude tones to her contemporaries, Joanna's trademark perspex decoration and leather accents, signalled a subtle departure from the more etheral pieces on offer at On|Off.

In a further departure from her contemporaries, Yang Du presented a collection which resounded with a playful naivety. Oversized t-shirt dresses, appliqued with fur and animal silhouettes were teamed with innocent make-up. Though a strong lip, teamed with a finale outfit of a raging bulldog, hinted at an underlying ferocity.
