London Fashion Week S/S2010 - Pam Hogg

LONDON FASHION WEEK S/S2010 - PAM HOGG
Led into an underground car park, replete with the usual exposed concrete and water dripping from a leaking main, I anticipated a collection infused with industrial grime. Pam Hogg surprised. The first look out - a jumpsuit made purely of strategically wrapped organza ribbon - acted as a microcosm for a collection which ,whilst retaining Pam Hogg's rebellious, outsider steak, resounded with an unexpectedly girly though never fluffy femininity. The sports cars which permeated the space appeared to impact upon the pieces.

Pam's signature jumpsuits, bodies and body-con tube dresses paneled in black and white with the occasional flash of silver, topped with strong, angular shoulders carried an air of athleticism. The hair though - backcombed and crowned with lashings of organza - hinted at the delicacy that was to later emerge. In an about turn from the vivid brights that pervaded her previous collection, Baby-doll style dresses with puffed shoulders and jumpsuits were rendered in baby blue and pink, and finished with flirtatious bustles.

Never erring too close to sickly sweet, studded biker jackets with exaggerated collars and a standout scarlet asymmetrical number with tulle underskirt, possessed a defiant tenacity. As her perfectly contoured jumpsuits unashamedly caress the female body, Pam presented an embrace of audacious femininity, apt - as her show was titled - for a Goddess of War.
