MILAN FASHION WEEK S/S2010 - ALBERTA FERRETTI

Much like Antonio Marras, a feminine romanticism snuck into Alberta Ferretti's Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Presumably predicting a summer fit for  dresses, Antonio - in the majority - eschewed both legwear and outerwear; the occasional blazer rendered in satin and replete with sheer sleeves and in crisp white and cinched at the waist, acting as suitably weightless solutions for cooling evenings.

Alberta's undeniable skill with dresses resulted in cocktail, shift and maxi incarnations, overlayed with mesh corsets, embellished with florals, panelled in sherbet shades of blue and yellow, and always sheer, cascading around the body. A colourway of nudes, crisp whites and subtle golds, punctuated by the occasional flash of blood red and indigo, maintained an atmosphere of sophisticated rather than naive romaticism
