PARIS FASHION WEEK S/S2010 – ANN DEMEULEMEESTER
Lets not make any bones about it; you always know what you're going to get with an Ann Demeulemeester collection - impeccably cut, clean black and white pieces. Though in this instance, opening with a look derived directly from her menswear show of July, Ann Demeulemeester in her own idiosyncratic way, tapped into the lingerie as outerwear, the flesh baring trend infiltrating every show as she presented her own collection of dark though never gratuitous sensuality.
Tailored blazers paired with cigarette trousers, body chains and leather cummerbunds and bandeaus in black black black, offered unabashed expanses of flesh. Chains layered upon a draped leather jacket, cascading from a knee length, assymetrically draped jacket and metal head and hairpieces added both a literal and metaphorical strength to the designs, anchoring the women wearing them as toughened perpetrators of their brand of near nudity.
Delicacy though snuck in through a flighty wing print. Featured on a white moto jacket, silk cigarette trousers with matching tunic and floor length skirts, when juxtaposed with leather corsets, body chains and Ann's signature multi-strap BDSM inspired footwear, the print epitomised a delicate yet robust, a sensual but dominant, a uniquely Ann Demeulemeester collection.
