PARIS FASHION WEEK S/S2010 – COMME DES GARCONS
Topped by candy-floss locks, Rei Kawakubo presented a joyful re-interpretation of the trends currently terrorising the catwalks, all the while whilst crediting her own hand in their creation. The now ubiquiotus - even tired? - shoulder pad was rendered fresh when patchworked into dresses, jackets, skirts and sculptural belts, the sort of timeless pastiche of different textures, eras and cultures now a Kawakubo trademark.
Patchworked cropped jackets, paired with frayed - another trend alert - mini skirts, deconstructured trenches panelled with sheer inserts, and polka dot bustles and dresses hit all of the right Commes notes, and are sure to feature on Tavi Gevinson's wish list.
