Paris Fashion Week S/S2010 - Stella McCartney

PARIS FASHION WEEK S/S2010 – STELLA MCCARTNEY

With familiar faces Gwyneth Paltrow and Pa McCartney sat in the front row, Stella McCartney continued to serve up her own unique brand of insouciant sex appeal with a collection chock-full of perfect separates and summer dresses. A focus on tailoring resulted in ivory, cobalt and taupe suits, which - with trousers tapered cleanly, lapels removed and occasionally replaced by a single  oversized ruffle (a motif which pertained throughout the collection), and peplum's flirtatiously kicking out - exercised Stella's skill in creating pieces that transcend the day/evening wear boundary.

The re-appearance of Stella's signature jumpsuit - in this instance in a strapless, easy breezy, almost athletic interpretation in white - hinted at a balmy summer, as did a colour palette of orange - whether upon structured origami-folded, or scalloped dresses cropped just above the knee - paired with hot pink. Bouncing ruffles perched atop hot pants, or blooming from floor length maxis - again in a colour palette of reds, pinks and oranges - bought a hint of senorita to the mix, concluding a collection which, refreshingly unchallenging, epitomised the notion of ready-to-wear.
