PARIS FASHION WEEK S/S2010 – GARETH PUGH MENSWEAR
In a departure from last season, Gareth presented his Spring/Summer 2010 menswear together with his womenswear collection. Geometric blocking - in cropped jackets, polo-necked crop tops and cut outs - in shades of dove grey, charcoal and navy, showcased a similarly soft cleanliness from which the brutal embellishment of last season was notably absent.
The focus instead shifted to silhouette and particularly - as Gareth does best - questions of masculinity. Zipped corsets with removable peplums, cinched waisted trenches and cut outs literally exposed the masculine physique, broaching a male warrior figure whose strength need not be bolstered by nails. Presenting immaculately cut pieces alongside an unwavering viewpoint and thus furthering Gareth's reputation for menswear, the collectiom looks set to encourage those pesky Dior Homme rumours...
